North Auditorium

The North Auditorium / Performance Stage provides students with a creative space to learn both the technical and creative essentials of live performance. Our exclusive educational partnership with Metalworks Production Group provides students with hands-on access to a vast array of the latest professional live sound and lighting equipment and musical instruments. This multi-faceted venue is used for lectures, workshops, as well as music clinics by our award winning faculty and adjunct faculty, and guest clinicians. The stage is also home to the monthly MWI Open Mic, and a wide variety of student shows and performances.


Studio 7

Studio 7 was designed by world-renowned acoustician Terry Medwedyk of Group One Acoustics and features an SSL G-Series console, Pro Tools HD system, Neumann and Yamaha monitors, effects and dynamic processors by Urei, Lexicon, TC-Electronics, plug-ins by UAD, McDSP, Waves, AVID, Focusrite, Native Instruments and Slate Digital and a wide variety of microphones from Neumann, Sennheiser, Shure, AKG, Audio Technica and M-Audio.

This studio features an 80-fader Avid ICON Control Surface, Pro Tools HD system, Neumann 5.1 monitoring, a variety of software such as Logic, Ableton and Reason and plugins from UAD, McDSP, Waves, AVID, Native Instruments and Slate Digital.


Metalworks Institute Lobby

Walking through the front doors students immediately feel the creative energy of the Metalworks Institute campus. From the coffee bar, polished concrete floors, custom artwork featuring Metalworks Studio’s clients, specially designed lighting trusses, HD TVs and the student lounge area all contribute to make the Lobby the main hub of activity at MWI.


Lecture Hall

Metalworks Institute’s dynamic Lecture Hall has was designed to provide our students with the optimum learning environment for lecture based classes Equipped with comfortable swivel seating, individual power and ethernet connections for each student, and a state of the art surround audio system and HD projection video system, our lecture hall also provides an ideal space for guest lectures from our award winning adjunct faculty.


Classroom 104

This 60 seat classroom feature state of the art audio/visual teaching aids, including an Electro Voice sound system and an HD video projection system. The room is also both Microsoft and Mac-supported. We believe that providing students with a comfortable well equipped classroom, the learning process and information retention becomes much more effortless for our students.

Common Area

The common areas and campus grounds provide a creative and inspiring space for students to interact with their fellow peers, faculty members and staff. The North Hall and the South Lounge are both ideal spaces for students to socialize, study, create, share music, watch TV or even start a spontaneous jam session between classes.


Triumph Way

Located inside the legendary Metalworks Studios, this area pays homage to the legacy of Canadian hard-rock power trio Triumph and features the band’s many gold and platinum albums, awards and photos of the bands members; Rik Emmet, Mike Levine and Metalworks Institute’s founder and CEO Gil Moore.


Woz Lab

The lab is named in honour of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, who is widely considered one of the most important pioneers in the development of the personal computer. Wozniak was the sole designer of Apple I and cofounded Apple Inc. along with Steve Jobs. This 50 seat lab is equipped with HD Projection Video and Dolby Digital EX 6.1 surround audio and provides students with individual workspaces complete with power, ethernet and MIDI controllers. Students also have access to a dedicated server which contains a large collection of audio and video media, including sound effects libraries by Sound Ideas, Hollywood Edge, Hanna-Barbera, Warner Bros and Lucasfilm as well as music libraries by Mix, Tunedrive, Trailer Trax and Turner Music.
