Mississauga Waterfront Festival We’re pleased to announce the debut of the Mississauga Waterfront Festival / Metalworks Institute Scholarship. Open to applicants in our  Show Production and Event Management Program, this scholarship will award each of the two recipients with a $2,000 scholarship.

In order to qualify, applicants must have a sincere enthusiasm, passion and ambition to succeed in the live entertainment industry. Eligibility for the scholarship includes having an OSSD or equivalent, volunteering at various events, including full participation at the Mississauga Waterfront Festival, composing a short essay and successfully graduating from the Show Production and Event Management Program. The Mississauga Waterfront Festival is recognized as Mississauga’s Signature Family and Friends event. From a small community festival of 7,500 visitors in 1998 the festival attracts more visitors from Mississauga, the GTA many parts of Ontario, and U.S border cities to a current average of 50,000 festival goers. The festival has presented over 600 performers annually that include Main Stage and children’s headline performers. Past highlights included adult performers such as Sam Roberts, Jann Arden, Tom Cochrane, Chantal Kreviazuk, Jim Cuddy, Bedouin Soundclash, Goddo, Steven Page and Spirit of the West.”

Our one year Show Production and Event Management Program teaches students the fundamental knowledge and skills required to plan, manage and produce shows for a broad range of live entertainment industry applications. Course topics include: Show Production Systems, Lighting Principles and Operation, Theatrical Productions, Special Effects and Acoustics. All of our full-time diploma programs are approved vocational programs under the Private Career Colleges Act 2005.
