A. Metalworks Institute offers excellent financing packages tailored to suit each student’s needs. A. Most of our Diploma Programs cost nothing to apply to. However, applicants interested in the Music Performance & Technology program must pay a $75.00 Audition Fee and international students must pay an International Application Fee.
A. Books and supplies are NOT included in the cost of tuition.
A. Requirements: If you have sincere enthusiasm, passion, and ambition to succeed in a career in the entertainment industry, you have what we are looking for in our students.

In addition:
Applicants must have an OSSD or equivalent.
Mature applicants are welcome.
Admission to certain programs may be limited and subject to an academic interview and audition.

A. The Admissions Process is simple:
Complete Part 1 of the application form either online or in person.
After receiving your submission, an Admissions Counsellor will contact you by email and provide you with Part II of the application form.
You will be advised as to the status of your application within one week of completing all application requirements.
Successful applicants must register within thirty (30) days of acceptance to Metalworks Institute; otherwise acceptance will be revoked.

After a period of six (6) months, unsuccessful applicants can re-apply for admission to the school, on a one-time-only basis.

A. Metalworks Institute is located in the heart of downtown Mississauga. Formed in 1974, Mississauga is now recognized as Canada’s 6th largest and fastest growing major city with a population of over 700,000 residents representing cultures from around the world.

The Metalworks Institute Campus is walking distance to Square One – the largest shopping mall in Ontario and a feature of the city’s downtown core.

Situated 27km west of Toronto, our central location provides students with access to all the amenities of a large city, but with significantly lower costs of living. There’s plenty to do and lots to see!

A. All of the Diploma Programs at Metalworks Institute are full-time. In order to be successful, students must be completely focused on and dedicated to their studies. Most programs require students to attend 25 – 30 hours of class and devote 5+ hours to completing assignments and studying for tests and exams each week.
A. Yes, simply fill out our online application form. An Admissions Counsellor will contact you as soon as we receive your completed application and guide you through the rest of the admissions process.

FAQ for Online Certificate Courses

A. You can register for any of our Online Certificate Courses by completing our Online Registration Form.
A. You can pay for your Certificate Courses by Visa, MasterCard, bank draft, or cash (in person).
A. You will be notified of the date you can access the online course once the registration process has been completed.
A. Each online course contains 10-12 lessons, which are each typically 20-30 minutes long.
A. You can take a maximum of two courses simultaneously.
A. Yes. There is a short timed online test at the end of each lesson which you must complete successfully before you can access the next lesson in the course. Once all of the tests have been completed there is a timed final exam which covers all of the material in the course. You must achieve 80% on the final exam in order to successfully complete the course.
A. Metalworks Institute uses a percentage grading system of 1 to 100%. A passing grade for both tests and final exams is 80%.
A. You will need regular access to a computer with an Internet connection and Web access for the duration of your course.

A. Online learning at Metalworks Institute allows you the flexibility to work on your course at any time of day during the 180-day time-limit. You can study at whatever times work best for you.
A. You have access to the course for 180 days from the scheduled start date to complete your course
A. You have access to your grades at all times via your online course page. Once you have successfully completed your course you will be sent a transcript containing your final grade and a Certificate of Completion from Metalworks Institute.
A. When you have successfully completed your course, your Certificate of Completion will be sent to the address we have on file. If you move, please update us with the new information.
A. No, all you need is a computer (see computer requirements) and access to the internet.
A. There are no refunds for online certificate courses.
A. Yes, you can take the tests and exams up to three times each.
A. No, once you have completed the course, you will no longer have access to the course material.
A. Yes, after registering for a course you will have 180 days to access the course material and complete the required evaluations.

OSAP FAQ

Apply for OSAP online at ontario.ca/osap

When you apply for college or university through the college or university application centre, you’ll be directed to OSAP’s website where you can register and set up your profile. Registration is free! You will need your social insurance number (and parents’ if applicable).

Apply early! Students typically apply right after being accepted to the college.

  1. Go to ontario.ca/osap
  2. Click “Register” to create your profile. Once you create an OSAP profile, you will be assigned an OSAP Access Number (OAN).
  3. Log in and click “start new app” to fill out the application.
  4. Gather all the required documents. (You will get a list at the end of your application.)
  5. Mail/deliver your documents to our Financial Aid Office or upload them directly online (Please let our Financial Aid Office know if you have done so.).
  6. Print, sign, and take your MSFAA to a designated Canada Post office. The Master Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) is you lifetime loan agreement.
  7. Track the status of your application online and learn how much money you’ll get and when. You can even do this from your phone.
The application is designed to calculate your financial need, so be as honest and accurate as possible.

Keep your OAN and password safe and accessible.

Once you have begun your application, always “SAVE and NEXT/EXIT” your page to retain all the completed fields.

Don’t start more than 1 application. You can continue working on an existing application by going to the “Check Status” section of the OSAP website.

Eligible students can receive a maximum of $390 (Single Students)/$660 (Married, Common Law or students with dependants) per week of studies for their annual program of study. Every OSAP student is automatically assessed for any available grants when applying for OSAP.

The amount of OSAP you qualify for is based on your calculated financial need.

*Amounts are based on both federal and provincial aid.
**The Government of Canada provides $210/week in loans for all student types. (This is already included in the funding above.)

Once you complete the online application, you will be provided with instructions via the “check status” section as to what you need to do next. Certain forms will need to be uploaded directly on the OSAP website or will need to be sent to Metalworks Institute (To the Financial Aid Office’s attention). Your application will be reviewed and your FAO will contact you with any required follow up requirements.

What is the MSFAA?

The MSFAA (Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement) lays out your responsibilities and the terms and conditions of accepting and repaying your student loans. It needs to be taken to a designated Canada Post Office.

With regards to this document be sure to;

    • Bring the first page only (with your signature) to a designated Canada Post outlet
    • Have two pieces of valid identification:
      • A Social Insurance Number (SIN) card or government document confirming your SIN
      • A government-issued photo ID
    • The Canada Post outlet will send your lifetime student loan agreement to the National Student Loans Service Centre on your behalf. *Free Of Charge*

Note: Once your MSFAA is submitted, it’s good for the duration of your full-time studies. You won’t have to submit it again if you apply for OSAP next year.

OSAP funds are usually disbursed in two installments approximately 1 week after a student commences their studies. For a three-term study period, 60% of the funding will be disbursed in the Fall and the remainder in the Winter term. Students will only receive funding once the student starts attending and meets the requirements for their enrollment confirmation. This is to ensure that students are attending classes, actively participating and excelling in their program. (Two critical components in maintaining OSAP eligibility: Grades (Minimum 60% GPA) and satisfactory attendance.)
