Rick Fines

Rick is one of Canada’s leading blues, roots music and slide guitarists and blues historians. He has been playing music professionally for 24 years, and is a veteran of the folk and blues circuits in North America. He won the MapleBlues Award for Acoustic Act of the Year award. In 2004 Rick was nominated for the third time for the MapleBlues Award for Acoustic Act of the Year, as well as the Best Male Vocalist award.

His 15 years with Jackson Delta won recognition from both the Juno and the Handy Awards. He has played for legendary blues piano player Pinetop Perkins, songstress Colleen Peterson, folk icon Penny Lang, and many others. He has toured from the Gulf of Mexico to the Arctic Ocean, from B.C. to New England, France to Great Britain, bringing with him his understanding of blues, finger-style and bottleneck guitar. With albums Arcadia, Out of the Livingroom and Live at the Harvest, Fines received critical acclaim featuring mostly self-penned songs, but there is always a tip of the hat to some of his mentors such as Brownie McGhee, Mississippi, John Hurt and even the Rolling Stones.
