Alumni Update: Zak Heesen, Show Production & Event Management
Graduated From: Show Production & Event Management Diploma (2009)
Zak Heesen graduated from the Show Production & Event Management Diploma Program in 2011 and has since held a variety of positions in the live event production field. Currently, Zak is working as a Show Coordinator for the industry-leading company Christie Lites. He started out with the company as a shipping clerk and worked his way up to his current position, where he is responsible for coordinating production for a wide-variety of events.
During his time with Christie Lites, Zak has worked on numerous shows and events including the JUNO awards, the CCMAs, Squamish, Lollapalooza, Way Home, VELD, Digital Dreams, UFC and the North American Auto Show, as well as shows for numerous chart-topping artists including City and Colour, Alexisonfire, Billy Talent, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Travis Scott, Anderson Paak, Kiss, Motley Crue, Royal Blood, Tame Impala, Jack White, Eric Church, Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull.
Before beginning his work with Christie Lites, Zak honed his skills working for Metalworks Production Group. He advises current students to “make the most of [your] time at Metalworks by networking [and] gaining experience in all of its forms, [and] above all else: work smart and hard (often in that order).
