Alumni Update: Serena Ragogna, Entertainment Business Management

Serena Ragogna graduated from Metalworks Institute’s Entertainment Business Management Program with honours in 2014. Soon after graduating, Serena began working freelance with various artists and started a marketing internship at Coalition Music. Following her two month internship with the company, Serena was hired to join the team at Coalition Music and is currently working as the Marketing and Funding Coordinator.

Coalition Music is an artist management company and independent record label. Serena assists with the careers of artists both managed and signed by the company including major label artists Our Lady Peace, Simple Plan, Finger Eleven, Justin Nozuka, USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker), and Andee. Within Serena’s role, she creates marketing plans, budgets and wrap up reports for both marketing and funding initiatives. Serena is also involved with the planning and execution of marketing campaigns for music video shoots, singles, album releases and international tours.

Serena’s advice for current students? Don’t wait until your program is over to get involved within the industry. Start volunteering and networking as soon as possible, you never know what series of events could lead to new opportunities. The industry changes and things happen fast, so be prepared!
