Alumni Update: Nick Londono, Audio Production and Engineering

This year, the annual MARTY Awards were held at the Living Arts Center on Thursday May 8th 2014. The MARTY Awards honour and support established as well as emerging artists within the community for their artistic achievements. This year our very own Nick Londono aka Nick Name, received the Emerging Media Arts Award!

Since attending the Audio Production and Engineering Program, Nick has focused on his talents as a musician with special emphasis on engineering and music production. As an Engineer, Nick has overseen the production of numerous film soundtracks, many of which have seen success at international film festivals and with distribution deals worldwide. As a musician, Nick is known as a “bare-bones musician. He has had the privilege of playing with numerous acts all across Canada and the US, as they call on his skills as a keyboardist, guitarist and overall multi-instrumentalist.” Visit nicknamemusic.com for an overview of projects Nick has been a part of.

In 2013 Nick Name produced the debut album for Shyann, an experimental album that filled the gap between musical arrangements and groove, creating something with edge without compromising musical substance. Nick incorporated a variety of instrumentation including upright pianos, percussion, beatboxing, acoustics guitars, B3 organs, and brass instruments with a sample-driven style of production.

Congratulations to all of the 2014 MARTY Award winners and nominees!
