Katie Calio, a 2018 graduate of the Music Business Diploma Program, is off to a great start in her music industry career. Shortly after graduating, Katie joined Live Nation’s team at The Queen Wilmington, and she has since held not one, not two, but three positions with company. All of Katie’s roles so-far have been related to promoting ‘The Queen’, which is one of the top live-music venues in Delaware.
Katie’s first role with Live Nation was as a brand ambassador for The Queen. She spent a few months promoting the historic venue and their social media channels at local events before taking on a second position as a Marketing Intern. During her internship, Katie continued to develop her skills as a promoter before accepting her current position with the Premium Seating Sales team.
Katie described her new role, telling us “it’s a lot of running around the venue and trying to make genuine connections with everyone to get them to come back.”
We always love seeing alumni getting off to a strong start after graduation, so we asked Katie ‘What has been the most helpful aspect of your Metalworks education?’ and this is what she had to say:
“Just having a general understanding of how everything works behind the scenes and that everyone in all departments have to work together to make a good show possible.”
She then offered some words of wisdom for current students “Soak up everything, you never know what you’re going to need to know down the road!”
