2014 MARTY Award Nominees Announced!

“The annual MARTY Awards honour and support established as well as emerging artists in the community for their artistic achievement. 2014 will mark the 20th anniversary of the awards!” This year, we’re  proud to recognize the accomplishments of a current student and two Alumni that have been nominated for various awards.

Nick Londono aka Nick Name
Nominated in the category of Emerging Media Arts
“Nick Name’s work as a Sound Designer, Audio Engineer and Film Composer has been featured in many international film festivals. Over the last few years he has also been recognized for his music production with numerous upcoming Canadian artists, while recently making his ‘music-video’ directorial debut.”

David Record
Nominated in the category of Emerging Literary Arts and Emerging Performing Arts
“David Record (born David Charles Emanuel Record) is a Canadian Poet and Hip Hop artist. His poetry explores themes such as life without love; love and friendship and feelings adherent to our existence. He captures through literature and imagery the reasons, passion, spontaneity and senses taken from his personal experiences. David’s music flow also touches on the depths of life experiences. He exudes a conscious vibe that is influenced by his Jamaican roots. The messages in his songs are filled with love and encourage listeners to live righteously.”

Joel Martin
Nominated in the category of Established Performing Arts
“Joel Martin is a new breed of singer/songwriter. He graduated in Audio Engineering in order to produce and mix his own recordings. He then studied Entertainment Business Management and manages his own career. He’s a prolific songwriter who’s written over 100 songs and released 12 albums in 12 years.”

Congratulations and all the best of luck to all of this years nominees! The MARTY Awards ceremony will be taking place on May 8th at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga.
