New Year... New Term at Metalworks Institute

Metalworks Institute is pleased to welcome the newest group of students. This term about 70 new students joined the institute. The college now has around 250 students enrolled in programs, which will bring them one step closer to their chosen careers in the entertainment industry.

During the last week of December students and parents were invited to a day of orientation. Presentations were made for students and parents, and an academic skills session was put on by the career centre, to brief incoming students on MWI policies and procedures.

Craig Titus, Program Director of the Institute, spoke to parents to ensure they know the career opportunities available to their children upon graduation. He said it’s important to make sure the parents and students are on the same page, and to set up the lines of communication between the academic staff and parents. Metalworks Institute encourages direct communication between parents and program directors so parents feel included in their children’s education- just one more way the institute personalizes the experience.

It is important to Titus that each student is well equipped to enter the entertainment industry. He said, “I want to see each student get the foundation that he or she needs to pursue what they are passionate about.”

As students began their new semesters, the excitement and novelty was palpable.

Titus said, “I enjoy the new energy that comes with new students.”

We also held an Orientation Pub Night for students, to give them a chance to meet returning students and the teachers and staff who will facilitate their education over the coming months.
