The semi-finals of the annual Mississauga Future Star competition were held on Sunday, May 31st at Mississauga’s Clarke Hall (161 Lakeshore West), with the top 20 contestants battling it out for an opportunity to appear at the finals in June.
The original auditions for the Future Star competition took place on April 27th and 28th at Metalworks Institute, with a number of talented local artists performing for a panel of industry judges. The judges narrowed the original slate of singers down to 20 semi-finalists, who then performed at Clarke Hall to try to edge their way into the finals.
The finals of the Mississauga Future Star competition will take place on Sunday, June 21st, between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., as part of the annual Mississauga Waterfront Festival. The ten finalists will perform before another panel of industry judges, with the winner being crowned the 2009 Mississauga Future Star, and earning a prize package that includes $2000 cash, the opportunity to showcase at the 2010 Canadian Music Week Festival, plus recording and mixing time at Metalworks Studios.
