The logistics of the event were lead by MPG’s own Owen Whitehead, who worked closely with Alexisonfire’s Soundman Dave Gardner and their Lighting Director Nick Van Nostrand.

MPG supplied Lighting Director Nick Van Nostrand with gear that included an MA Lighting grandMA console to control the rig that consisted of Martin Mac 700 Profiles, Mac 700 Washes, Atomic Strobes, and some Palco LED fixtures.

Nick Van Nostrand, having worked with the likes of John Legend, Bedouin Soundclash, and Metric, has had the experience of working with lots of gear and many great artists. In a discussion at Front of House (FOH), Nick shed some light on the reasons for requesting the gradMA: “It’s the only console that does what all of the other consoles do combined.” In his experience he says, “it is also the console that [he] uses most and feels most comfortable with”.

Dave Gardner, who has had the experience of working as FOH for Jacksoul, a Monitor Mixer for Matt Good and is a freelancer for Metalworks Production Group, had some interesting advice on working with a room with poor acoustics: “louder, louder, louder!” That is exactly what you get at any Alexisonfire show, and how was that accomplished? Gardner comments: “I went with the Digidesign (Venue console) because it’s very user friendly, it interfaces easily with Pro Tools, and the functionality is really strong compared to giant analog consoles or other digital consoles in the field.”

The two Live Nation shows played host to excited teenagers and die hard Alexisonfire fans, who shared in the memories of the good ole’ tunes and enjoyed some of the new, soon-to-be hits. The production of the show contributed to the excitement and energy that inspired most to get up and dance…and the select few to mosh.
