Students at Metalworks Host Charity Event -
"Rock Out With Your Croc Out"

Metalworks Institute’s student-operated promotions group, Intense Events, hosted a charity fundraiser at the local Crocodile Rock Bar and Grill in Mississauga, this month.

All proceeds from the event were donated to Friends Of We Care, an organization that sends physically disabled children to summer camps through Easter Seals camping programs.

Dan Nagel, the student responsible for the publicity and promotion of the event, estimated they had over a 100 people come out in support, and raised over $1000 dollars for the charity.

“It was great to work with classmates to put on something that brings people out and helps the community,” said Nagel.

The event offered thousands of dollars worth of prizes from RBC, Steam Whistle Brewing, Shoppers Drug Mart, Embee Properties, Ten TV and On A Bun. Entertainment was provided by Toronto alternative-rock band Atlantis Blueprint, Hamilton heavyweights The Light Division and Metalworks’ own The Distance Between Stars.

The event was organized by students for their final project as part of the Event Productions Management course. They were tasked with organizing a local event that benefited a charity, and all in all, Nagel said he was thrilled with the way the evening turned out. It not only provided great hands-on experience, but also taught him a lesson in communication and teamwork.
