Guest Lecture: David Bluestein

Music industry veteran David Bluestein paid a visit to Metalworks Institute in April to talk to the students in RJ Guha’s Artist Management class about his lengthy experience in the industry.

Bluestein, who’s better known throughout the business as “Blue”, has been a key player in the business since the late ‘60s. Working alongside Michael Cohl of Concert Productions International, Bluestein handled merchandise sales for a variety of legendary touring artists, including Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones. Most recently, Bluestein founded the BEI Group of Companies, which includes BEI Transport, BEI Souvenir Sales, and Bluestein Enterprises Inc., one of the largest event merchandise facilitators. He is also President of Courage Artists and Touring, one of Canada’s top national contemporary music talent agencies.

MWI’s students were treated to numerous stories and insight on working within Canada’s concert industry, and the merchandising side of the business.
