Mississauga Future Stars auditions held at MWI
Auditions for the 2009 Mississauga Future Stars competition were held April 27 and 28 at Metalworks Institute. Dozens of contestants performed over the two days of auditions, hoping to sing their way into the semi-finals, and ultimately, the finals.
Metalworks Institute’s Noel Cadastre hosted the auditions, which took place in front of a panel of industry judges, including Giancarlo Gallo (assistant studio manager, Metalworks Studios), Trevor Burt (folk artist and studio owner), Ingrid Gardiner (development director, Mississauga Arts Council) and Keith Smout (partnership manager, Mississauga Waterfront Festival).
The top twenty contestants from the auditions will perform on Sunday, May 31st at Clarke Hall in Mississauga (161 Lakeshore Rd. West). Tickets for the semi-finals are $10, and can be purchased in advance by calling 905-615-4278, or at the door the night of the show. The semi-finals will conclude with the announcement of the 10 finalists, who will move on to the next round and perform at the main stage at the Mississauga Waterfront Festival on June 21st. On that date, the top ten will go head-to-head to determine the 2009 Future Star. The 2009 Future Star will receive a $2000 cash prize, and the opportunity to showcase at the 2010 Canadian Music Week Festival, plus recording and mixing time at Metalworks Studios.
