Rock In The Creek
By Alex Andronache (MWI Faculty)

On a recent cold and dreary night in November, the third semester Show Production students held their hot and heavy charity event “Rock In The Creek” at PK Creek Bar and Grill in Mississauga. This was the final project for their Event Production class.

The successful fun-filled night of rock ‘n’ roll drew over 150 patrons including students, instructors, MW staff, and local lovers of fine music. The talent line up featured Milton rockers SoKey, local Mississauga party band Splice’T (featuring Metalworks Institute’s own Chris Kingswell on drums), followed by headliners Explode When They Bloom from Windsor. All three bands played very well and each of them contributed something completely different to the event. SoKey warmed up the crowd with their straight up rock, Splice’T added their own brand of ska ‘n’ reggae party rock, and Explode When They Bloom raised the roof with their hard and heavy originals.

The event raised nearly $1000 for the Cawthra Park Music Program right here in Mississauga. Over $3000 worth of prizes were given away, including a beautiful Jackson guitar.

Congratulations to students Glen Armagost, Anthony Barreto, Ben Cassidy, Craig Holland, Mark Jovanovich, and Evan Shepherd for a job well done!
