Rokk The Box
By Ryan Tay (EBM Student)
On December 3rd, 2008, Out of the Box Productions – featuring the third-term MWI EBM and PSS students - hosted the "Rokk the Box" event as a class project. The event was held at Millcreek Restaurant and Sports Bar in Mississauga and featured performances from See Spot Run, Teeter, and Zoe Bentley. The objective of this show was not only to educate the group of students on the topic of live event promotion, but to raise money in support of the arts within the local community.
"Rokk the Box" proved to be a hugely successful event, with a massive turnout of patrons including students, instructors, MW staff, and local supporters of the arts within the community - there wasn't an empty seat left in the venue! With an extremely solid line-up featuring the well-known rockers See Spot Run, the up-and-coming rock phenomenon Teeter, and the acclaimed acoustic pop-rock music from Zoe Bentley, the event captivated and guided the audience through the true experience of a great rock show!
The event raised over $1000 for the Meadowvale Secondary School Music Program here in Mississauga. Many prizes were given away from supporters such as Warner Music Canada, Mercedes-Benz, Sony BMG, Holiday Inn, Starbucks, GW, Ned Devine’s, Turtle Creek, Hills Entertainment, Molson, and Metalworks Studios.

This event could have never happened without the efforts of the students from Out of the Box Productions: Cathy Fudge, Ryan Tay, John Dajczak, Julian Bolinger, Dan Hernden, and Nick Wasylyk.
