Instructor Profile: Joe Natale

Joe Natale, a graduate of Tamaro Institute of Technology, began his career at Tanis Recording Studios in 1985 as assistant audio engineer. Between 1986 and 2002, Joe worked at Bandworld Sound & Lighting, with duties including production management, audio engineering, system design and fabrication, rigging, installation and design. Joe also instructed all new personnel in rigging, audio and production.

Between 1987 and ’93, Joe worked with Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks as the F.O.H. sound engineer, a gig that included 10 European tours, highlighted by the Poland Solidarity Festival. Joe also worked with CTV on the annual Hospital for Sick Children telethon, with duties including stage patching, equipment installation, and in-studio and monitor mixing for all performers. Joe also worked on the Easter Seals and Jerry Lewis telethons during this time.

Throughout the ‘90s, Joe also conducted several overseas tours with the Canadian Armed Forces, including trips to Ellesmere Island, Bosnia, Cambodia and Vietnam.

From 1996 to ’98, Joe worked as a MIDI programmer for Julio Iglesias on two world tours. He has also completed tours with Styx, Kenny Rogers, and numerous other artists. Joe also worked on the show Heaven & Hell (2000-02) on the CTV Comedy Network, and served as a consultant for Bandworld (2002-04) for the installation of all staging and high steel safety lines for Fallsview Casino.

Since 2004, Joe has worked as head of audio at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls. His duties include approval of all equipment on behalf of the venue, training of stagehands and audio operators, system design, and overseeing system installs via outside companies. Joe also oversaw numerous shows at Fallsview, including the David Foster Gala, which included artists such as Paul Anka, Julio Iglesias, Andrea Boccelli, David Foster, Michael Bublé, and others.

Throughout his career, Joe has also worked with artists such as Wayne Newton, Glass Tiger, Jimmy Rankin, Blue Rodeo, The Band, Garth Hudson, and many others. He currently serves as the F.O.H. engineer and tour manager for Deric Ruttan.
