Hooray for Hotdogs!!
By Michael Agard (SPM student)
On Monday August 4th Metalworks Institute, in conjunction with Metalworks Production Group, presented “Hooray for Hotdogs,” a charity BBQ for “Frienvds of We Care.”
Metalworks volunteers (Show Production and Audio Production students), under the direction of Julie Hoffmann, arrived early in the morning and set up staging and sound in the front parking lot of the school in preparation for the event.
Festivities kicked off at noon with a chef brought in to barbeque hot dogs and hamburgers for students, faculty members, and other attendees. Entertainment for the event was provided by Metalworks’ own students, starting with an acoustic set from Paul Brace and Ryan Smids (from the band The Neighborhood Against Us) and ending with a ska/reggae acoustic performance by audio students David Mohacsi, Eamon De Freitas and Chris Kingswell.
During the performances, student volunteers took turns stage managing, mixing for front of house, and (along with everyone else) enjoying the music, food and beautiful weather.

Metalworks Institute founder Gil Moore also decided to stop by to contribute to the event
Overall the BBQ was a great success and student volunteers and performers helped to put on a memorable show, with all the proceeds going to a great cause.
