| Julius “Juice” Butty got the recording bug early at 12 when his friend and he were recording and mixing tracks through his parents home stereo. With a mic input on the preamp and two cassette recorder/play back units they were in business.
A four track came next to record my band’s demos. “At Shot Gun Studios I got the first real taste of the studio life with a Producer named Johnny B...from there some of my musician friends ask me to produce their demo's so I spent a little time on the other end of the glass in various studio's around Southern Ontario.” He worked at YTV/ Corus Entertainment as a sound for picture freelance Editor /Engineer specializing in Sound FX/Music Editing and Voice Over and after four years left to open his own Silo Recording Studios in Hamilton, Ontario.
“As I was honing my recording chops I formed the band Straitjacket which morphed into Michelin Slave with one indie release. A number of years later I formed Hypodust and produced their debut CD “Here Comes The Pain”; a blistering sonic display of sheer metallic intensity.”
In 2004 Juice co-produced the debut CD “Watch Out!” for Alexisonfire, which has sold over 200,000 CD’s and won a Juno Award.
“Juice” produced the debut Gold solo CD for Dallas Green (City & Colour) which is nearing Platinum in Canada and Protest The Hero's "Kezia" which was released on Vagrant/Universal U.S.
His co-production of Alexisonfire's new release "Crisis", Distort Ent/Universal, has debuted at #1 in Canada and has also been released in the US by Vagrant/Universal. The record has gone gold in just two weeks in Canada and is heading for platinum status as well.
Most recently, "Juice" produced the debut CD for Toronto based Hunter Valentine for True North Records, mixed the upcoming CD by Cauterize and is completing final Co-production for The Black Lungs CD for Dine Alone/Distort Entertainment (Solo project for Wade McNeill of Alexisonfire).
“Juice” is constantly bringing his cutting edge approach to making records that stands out amongst the pack.
